Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or other related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Willingness and ability to perform outdoor field work, work outside of normal business hours, and overnight travel

Nice To Haves

  • Prior professional work in a related field (i.e. water sampling, field documentation, laboratory analysis, etc.)
  • Prior professional experience or knowledge of Virginia Stormwater Management Regulations, Virginia Stormwater Management Handbook, Virginia construction and stormwater regulations, Virginia regulatory environment, stormwater best management practices (BMP’s), etc.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Health and Safety Plan preparation, daily safety meetings, and OSHA, HAZWOPER, and site-specific safety training.
  • Review, coordinate, and collect field data working within a project team environment.
  • Perform and review site inspections and investigations, including stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) inspections, and erosion and sediment control inspections.
  • Support civil and environmental engineering staff and projects with the preparation of construction permit documents, including land-disturbance permitting, solid waste permitting, and other permitting required for project construction.
  • Support contractor bid analysis and review for various civil and environmental projects.
  • Review, interpret, and QA/QC laboratory and field data.
  • Provide oversight of subcontractors including laboratories, drillers, supply vendors.
  • Manage and support multiple environmental projects.
  • Technical writing and preparation of technical regulatory reports.
  • Participate in professional organizations including attending conferences, public speaking.
  • Track and review legislation relevant to stormwater and solid waste in Virginia.
  • Engage with existing and prospective clients.
