We are seeking a Scientist to join our Global R&D Organization. In this role you will be responsible for the development, validation and execution of a broad array of methods supporting the analysis of filtration media and integrated filtration, purification or separation devices / systems. You will focus on analytical methods for trace-level detection of metals and organics at ppb and ppt levels, as well as media characterization, including chemistry, structure, surface properties, porosity, and related material-performance and cleanliness attributes. The Scientist is expected to work independently within established processes, follow best laboratory safety practices, and provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary projects. This position reports to the Sr. Manager and is an on-site role located in Cortland, New York, USA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, or master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or material science with a focus on materials analysis or analytical chemistry
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a lab environment. Can be academic or professional
  • Hands-on experience developing methods for and using analytical / characterization tools (e.g. SEM, FTIR, ICP-MS, GC-MS, HPLC, and other characterization tools)
  • Industry experience in the microelectronics/semiconductor or energy sectors

Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, document and execute new, or modify existing standard operating procedures (SOP) for analysis of components or products being developed or integrated filtration, purification and separation devices.
  • Document experiments, results, and findings in laboratory notebook and distributed technical reports
  • Serve as team subject matter expert (SME) and provide analytical expertise to cross-functional teams.
  • Engage with lab manager and project requestors to review timelines, discuss schedule conflicts or verify test parameter modifications
  • Oversee preventive maintenance of equipment analysis tools by working with tool vendors.
