About The Position

As a Scientist Staff, you will drive tire performance and quality through advanced chemical, physical, and forensic materials analysis. You will partner closely with product development and manufacturing teams to define performance targets and resolve complex material challenges. As a member of the Forensic Science team, you will investigate material integrity and failure mechanisms across the product lifecycle, supporting product innovation, troubleshooting efforts, and Goodyear’s long-term competitive advantage.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Polymer Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in optical microscopy, SEM/EDS, quantitative image analysis, and statistical analysis.

• Experience in transferring technology and information to others.
• Experience in tire production, tire design, tire materials testing, and/or tire testing.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as a self-motivated team member.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate tire integrity issues and communicate findings to designers, material scientists, analysts, production teams, and project leaders.
• Analyze data from multiple analytical techniques and document results in technical reports.
• Prepare samples, perform measurements, interpret results, and develop analytical methods as needed.
• Manage time and resources to meet requested timelines and project deadlines.
• Present project updates and technical findings to stakeholders and leadership.
• Promote and maintain a safe working environment.
