RES is looking for a Senior Environmental Scientist to join our team. At RES, we are dedicated to restoring and protecting the land and water that sustain us. As a Senior Environmental Scientist, you will be part of a team that’s passionate about sustainability, resilience, and scientific rigor. You’ll play a key role in complex environmental site assessments, groundwater and soil remediation efforts, and data-driven reporting that informs impactful ecological solutions. This role is ideal for a scientist who thrives in the field, loves solving problems, and is driven by curiosity and a deep respect for natural systems. This position is based in our Orlando, FL office , and the selected candidate is expected to work from the office and surrounding Orlando or Tampa area. Approximately 20-40% of your time will be spent in the field , supporting projects across the West Coast or Central Florida. Fieldwork within the Orlando or Tampa areas will typically begin and end at the office. Occasional out-of-town travel may be required for project support across Florida, though this is expected to be limited.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of professional experience (or 5+ years with an advanced degree)
• Advanced experience in environmental site assessment and/or groundwater/soil remediation
• Proficient in field sampling procedures and data collection techniques
• Experience managing large datasets and analyzing complex environmental data
• Familiarity with regional regulatory requirements and agency SOPs
• Strong technical report writing skills
• Experience mentoring junior scientists and leading field teams
• Experience with the FDEP PRP program

Nice To Haves

• PE or PG license
• Project management experience
• Understanding of permitting, compliance frameworks, and policy trends

Responsibilities

• Organizing a field sampling effort for a complex site assessment
• Coordinating with regulatory agencies
• Mentoring junior staff on SOPs and safety protocols
• Collecting environmental data in the field
• Troubleshooting logistics in the field
• Ensuring groundwater measurements and sediment samples are performed to spec
• Analyzing large datasets
• Reviewing lab results
• Translating complex findings into clear, accurate technical reports
• Working closely with interdisciplinary teams
• Supporting project managers to ensure deliverables are completed on time, thoughtfully, thoroughly, and in compliance with regional regulatory requirements
• Completing the RES project manager program as part of employment
