RES is looking for a Senior Environmental Scientist to join our team. At RES, we are dedicated to restoring and protecting the land and water that sustain us. As a Senior Environmental Scientist, you will be part of a team that’s passionate about sustainability, resilience, and scientific rigor. You’ll play a key role in complex environmental site assessments, groundwater and soil remediation efforts, and data-driven reporting that informs impactful ecological solutions. This role is ideal for a scientist who thrives in the field, loves solving problems, and is driven by curiosity and a deep respect for natural systems. This position is based in our Orlando, FL office, and the selected candidate is expected to work from the office and surrounding Orlando or Tampa area. Approximately 20-40% of your time will be spent in the field, supporting projects across the West Coast or Central Florida. Fieldwork within the Orlando or Tampa areas will typically begin and end at the office. Occasional out-of-town travel may be required for project support across Florida, though this is expected to be limited.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of professional experience (or 5+ years with an advanced degree)
- Advanced experience in environmental site assessment and/or groundwater/soil remediation
- Proficient in field sampling procedures and data collection techniques
- Experience managing large datasets and analyzing complex environmental data
- Familiarity with regional regulatory requirements and agency SOPs
- Strong technical report writing skills
- Experience mentoring junior scientists and leading field teams
- Experience with the FDEP PRP program
Nice To Haves
- PE or PG license
- Project management experience
- Understanding of permitting, compliance frameworks, and policy trends
Responsibilities
- Play a key role in complex environmental site assessments, groundwater and soil remediation efforts, and data-driven reporting that informs impactful ecological solutions.
- Organize field sampling efforts for complex site assessments.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies.
- Mentor junior staff on SOPs and safety protocols.
- Collect environmental data in the field.
- Troubleshoot logistics during fieldwork.
- Ensure groundwater measurements and sediment samples are performed to specification.
- Analyze large datasets.
- Review lab results.
- Translate complex findings into clear, accurate technical reports.
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams.
- Support project managers to ensure deliverables are completed on time, are thoughtful, thorough, and compliant with regional regulatory requirements.
- Complete the RES project manager program as part of your employment.
