About The Position

Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join the In Vivo Pharmacology group supporting Oncology and Immunology discovery programs. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, execution, analysis, and interpretation of preclinical in vivo studies to evaluate novel therapeutic candidates. This position requires a strong scientific background in pharmacology, immunology, and/or oncology, as well as the ability to independently drive experimental strategies and collaborate within multidisciplinary discovery teams to advance programs from target validation through candidate selection.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of academic and / or industry experience
  • Master’s Degree and 3+ years of academic and / or industry experience
  • Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in the Life Sciences with no experience necessary
  • PhD in Pharmacology, Immunology, Oncology, Cell Biology, or a related life science discipline; or MS with 3+ years, or BS with 5+ years of relevant industry experience in in vivo pharmacology.
  • Strong scientific expertise in preclinical in vivo pharmacology required.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, executing, and interpreting studies in oncology and/or immunology disease models required.
  • Hands-on experience with rodent handling, dosing techniques, and biological sample collection required.
  • Experience with tumor models, immune-mediated disease models, or both required.
  • Proficiency with IVIS imaging and associated data analysis required.
  • Strong understanding of experimental design, statistics, and data interpretation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and scientific curiosity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present scientific findings.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment.

  • Industry experience in biotech or pharmaceutical R&D desired.
  • Experience working in matrixed, cross-functional teams desired.
  • Familiarity with imaging techniques, biomarkers, or molecular assays desired.

Responsibilities

  • Design and interpret in vivo studies in murine models of cancer and immune-mediated diseases.
  • Perform and oversee in vivo studies, including compound administration, disease induction, tumor implantation, immune cell transfers, longitudinal sampling, and animal monitoring.
  • Develop experimental strategies to evaluate pharmacodynamic, efficacy, mechanism-of-action, and combination therapy hypotheses.
  • Independently operate and apply imaging technologies, including IVIS, to support efficacy and mechanistic studies.
  • Troubleshoot technical and scientific challenges and develop solutions to improve study outcomes.
  • Contribute to the optimization and development of novel in vivo models and experimental workflows.
  • Analyze and interpret complex datasets using GraphPad Prism, Excel, and other data analysis tools.
  • Integrate in vivo, pharmacodynamic, biomarker, and mechanistic data to generate actionable scientific insights.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) documentation.
  • Prepare and present study results, scientific reports, and project updates to cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Contribute to scientific publications, technical reports, presentations, and regulatory documentation as appropriate.
  • Serve as an in vivo pharmacology representative on Oncology and Immunology project teams.
  • Partner with external collaborators and contract research organizations (CROs) to support study execution and data interpretation.
  • Contribute scientific insights to project strategy, portfolio discussions, and candidate advancement decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with BMS policies, IACUC regulations, and animal welfare standards.
  • Maintain lab supplies, equipment, and study materials.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of in vivo models and workflows.
