About The Position

About the Role: Perform assigned experiments at Neurocrine support in vivo and ex vivo studies to advance drug discovery. Responsibilities include rodent handling, dosing (PO, SC, IP, IV), clinical observations, and biologic sample collection, along with ex vivo assays such as flow cytometry, cytokine measurements, and basic molecular biology to interpret in vivo results. Ensures accurate record-keeping, data analysis, cross-functional participation, and compliance with SOPs and company policies.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in biological sciences preferably related to behavioral neuroscience, pharmacology or biopsychology and 2+ years of experience in the handling and dosing of rodents in a laboratory setting OR MS/MA degree in biological sciences preferably related to behavioral neuroscience, pharmacology or biopsychology and some relevant experience preferred OR PhD degree in biological sciences preferably related to behavioral neuroscience, pharmacology or biopsychology and some relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience in executing pre-clinical in vivo studies and integrating PK with PD/efficacy
  • Strong knowledge of scientific principles, methods, and techniques
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
  • Detail-oriented yet can see the broader picture of the scientific impact on the team
  • Adherence to good research practices and laboratory notebook/record-keeping
  • Advanced multitasking, troubleshooting, and deductive reasoning skills required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to excel in a highly collaborative environment
  • Willing to work some weekends and holidays as needed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change

Nice To Haves

  • Additional stereotaxic surgery, microdialysis and/or EEG experience strongly preferred
  • In vivo experience of autoimmune diseases and other inflammatory diseases is a plus. Also knowing how to develop animal disease models

Responsibilities

  • Performs in vivo and ex-vivo studies to support scientific activities and project goals for immunology programs
  • Performs rodent handling and procedures including dosing (PO, SC, IP, IV, RO) and clinical health assessments
  • Contributes to study planning and works with cross-functional partners to align endpoints and timelines
  • Collects biologic samples and tissues; performs necropsy and tissue processing to support PK/PD, biomarker, and efficacy endpoints
  • Executes ex vivo cellular assays to interpret in vivo observations, including multiparametric flow cytometry and cytokine measurement assays
  • Operates and maintains laboratory equipment with accurate, timely record keeping; troubleshoots and recommends process improvements
  • Maintains and updates SOPs and writes data summaries/reports for experiments conducted
  • Actively participates in and presents to cross-departmental teams and meetings
  • Reviews, comprehends and complies with all SOPs, IACUC procedures, and safety and quality assurance standards at all times
  • Other duties as assigned
