About The Position

Parametrix is seeking a Scientist II specializing in Environmental/Wetlands to join their Chicago-based team. This role will support a variety of environmental, natural resource, and NEPA compliance projects throughout the Midwest. The position is ideal for an individual who enjoys a blend of fieldwork, technical writing, and planning. The Scientist II will work independently while receiving guidance from experienced professionals, contributing to projects from initial field investigations to final deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in environmental consulting, ecology, or related field
• Strong technical writing skills and experience turning field data into clear, defensible reports
• Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
• Experience with biological fieldwork including aquatic resources delineations, habitat assessments and reporting

Nice To Haves

• Experience with NEPA documentation and interdisciplinary environmental review

Responsibilities

• Conducting aquatic resources delineations and other biological field investigations
• Supporting environmental permitting, NEPA documentation, and planning efforts
• Preparing clear, high-quality wetland reports and technical documentation
• Assisting in the preparation of NEPA documents (e.g., Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and supporting technical reports)
• Coordinating with internal teams to integrate resource studies into NEPA documents and environmental compliance strategies
• Traveling to project sites across the Midwest (~25% of the time)
• Assisting with agency coordination and responses to comments under NEPA and related regulations
