About The Position

The Scientist I – Flavor Design is responsible for leading flavor and seasoning development activities that support Campbell’s Snacks portfolio. This role partners closely with Product Development, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement, Supply Chain, and external suppliers to identify, evaluate, and commercialize flavor solutions that delight consumers and meet business objectives. The ideal candidate is a creative and technically strong food scientist who enjoys solving complex challenges, collaborating across functions, and bringing innovative products to market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Nutrition, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of food industry experience in product development, flavor technology, seasoning application, ingredient innovation, or related R&D functions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of flavor and seasoning functionality within food systems.
  • Experience designing experiments, analyzing data, and drawing technical conclusions.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and data management systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working directly with flavor and seasoning suppliers.
  • Experience in snack foods, crackers, cookies, bakery, or salty snack categories.
  • Knowledge of sensory evaluation methodologies and consumer-driven product development.
  • Experience supporting pilot plant studies and manufacturing commercialization.
  • Familiarity with ingredient specifications, formulation systems, and product lifecycle management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead flavor and seasoning development for innovation, renovation, quality improvement, and productivity initiatives across the Snacks portfolio.
  • Collaborate with flavor and seasoning suppliers to identify ingredient solutions, evaluate emerging technologies, and drive project execution.
  • Design and conduct flavor, seasoning, and sensory evaluations to support product development decisions.
  • Analyze technical and sensory data and translate findings into actionable recommendations for project teams.
  • Work closely with Product Developers, Packaging, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams throughout commercialization.
  • Coordinate and support pilot plant and manufacturing trials to ensure successful scale-up and product launch.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, formulations, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of flavor and seasoning libraries, databases, and knowledge management systems.
  • Monitor marketplace trends, competitive products, and emerging consumer flavor preferences to identify innovation opportunities.
  • Effectively communicate project progress, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
