About The Position

Eurofins Drinking Water and Wastewater West is seeking a Scientist I to join their team. The Scientist I is responsible for preparing and analyzing environmental samples using established scientific and EPA-approved analytical techniques. This role ensures all work is performed in full compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing America's Quality Assurance programs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Scientist I supports accurate, timely, and high-quality data generation by following validated methodologies, maintaining strict adherence to laboratory safety and quality standards, and documenting all activities according to regulatory and internal requirements.

Requirements

  • BS or BA in chemistry or related field. 3 years laboratory experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Minimum of two weeks training at academic institution in microbiological analysis of drinking water or 80 hours on the job training
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of bench top laboratory experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Set up and analyze microbiology samples including potable water, non-potable water, and soil
  • Set up and analyze inorganic potable and non-potable water samples
  • Understand and interpret Oregon Health Authority rules and regulations
  • Assist clients in person, by email, and over the phone
  • Receive, log, and process client samples
  • Maintain the laboratory in clean and excellent working order
  • Maintain laboratory supply inventory, perform QC checks, and prepare Certificates of Analysis
  • Prepare reagents or media for compliance and environmental testing
  • Perform monthly environmental monitoring
  • Maintain the laboratory filing system
  • Document laboratory functions in logbooks and computer systems
  • Perform proficiency testing for Oregon's Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program
  • Assist manager with tasks independently as needed
  • Analyze samples on weekends when required
  • Other duties that may be assigned as needed
