About The Position

For the Scientist I, Analytical Chemistry position, we are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong scientific research background, proven technical proficiency, and ability to effectively collaborate on cross-functional teams. The role will support late-phase development of peptide drug substance assets – familiarity with peptide synthesis & associated analytical testing are critical to success. You should also have experience in core analytical chemistry disciplines and common analysis techniques, as well as experience developing, validating and transferring analytical methods. Successful applicants will be able to work independently, efficiently troubleshoot technical problems, and clearly communicate findings within and across technical teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or equivalent education with 5+ years of experience or Master’s Degree or equivalent with 2+ years of experience.
  • Practical knowledge of modern peptide manufacturing processes.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of various chromatographies including HPLC, GC, and IC. Experience with mass spectrometry including method optimization, data collection, and interpreting results.
  • Understanding of cGMP and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in analytical techniques relevant to peptide product development including mass spectrometry, amino acid analysis, advanced separation techniques, and higher-order structure studies.
  • Self-motivated, hard-working, detail-oriented individual able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • High-quality written and oral communication skills and ability to interact effectively with interdisciplinary scientists and engineers.
  • Builds strong relationships with peers and cross functionally with partners outside of team to enable higher performance.
  • Demonstrates agility in triaging priorities, pivoting strategy when faced with change, and independently resolving bottlenecks and conflicts.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plan and perform method development, validation, execution, and assessment of results.
  • Resolve and troubleshoot routine scientific and technical issues independently.
  • Evaluate new technologies to solve scientific challenges or improve technological capabilities.
  • Understand and execute established techniques independently.
  • Document experimental activities and results in using an electronic data acquisition and management systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in numerous scientific software applications to collect, process, and report data.
  • Prepare protocols and reports as well as quality, safety, and regulatory documents.
  • Interact directly with partners outside the department with minimum oversight.
  • Present results and actively engage with local and global teams.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, and GxP compliance, where applicable.
