About The Position

As part of the dynamic Formulation Development & Analytics unit, this role contributes to enabling the next generation of biopharmaceutical therapies. The team develops innovative formulation and analytical strategies under BSL-1/2 and S1/S2 safety levels, as well as GMP quality standards, emphasizing scientific excellence, precision, and curiosity. This position supports Coriolis Pharma’s global growth, including the expansion of new U.S. facilities in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park (RTP). The role involves transferring expertise, establishing scientific capabilities, and ensuring seamless integration of processes across locations. The Scientist will transform scientific questions into analytical insights by developing state-of-the-art methods, interpreting complex data, and contributing to client projects in an international environment, while further developing both technical expertise and personal skills. Requirements

  • University degree in pharmaceutical sciences, (bio)chemistry, biology, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experiences, e.g. employment in pharmaceutical industry / analytical laboratory (e.g. CDMO) or PhD studies
  • Experience with equipment commissioning, maintenance, and LIMS
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge of English (both written and spoken)
  • Good time management and prioritization skills

Nice To Haves

  • Proven track record and hands-on experience in relevant biophysical characterization techniques (AUC, CD, µDSC, FTIR, fluorescence, DLS, nanoDSF) is strongly preferred
  • Additional expertise in planning and execution of biosimilar testing is a plus
  • Proficiency in HPLC/UPLC-analysis (SEC, IEX, RP, LC-CAD, LC-MS), CE-analysis and subvisible particle analysis (MFI, LO) is highly beneficial
  • Knowhow of biopharmaceutical formulation development, clinical in-use testing and PPM comparability testing is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Be part of project teams for client projects (e.g., liquid/lyophilization formulation development, comparability and stress testing, storage stability study) as assigned by the superior with special focus on biophysical characterization techniques for biopharmaceuticals.
  • Work as 1st or 2nd project leader and/or team member for projects.
  • Contribute to the development of work plans, testing procedures and/or amendments for customer projects.
  • Correctly, timely and independently plan and execute formulation preparation / analytical testing / experiments.
  • Independently perform analytical method transfer/implementation.
  • Demonstrate solid understanding of performed analytical methods and be able to apply the knowledge to interpret the data.
  • Perform data analysis and subsequently put data into context for data presentation and/or report.
  • Support scientific discussion in client meetings.
  • Appropriately act on unforeseen events.
  • Serve as an expert on several instruments, analytical methods, and application areas, including biophysical characterization methods (e.g., ability to perform method development, interpretation of data, troubleshooting and training of new users on analytical procedures including analytical ultracentrifugation and circular dichroism).
  • Implementation of new analytical equipment / technologies and application of the methods within client projects.
  • Support onboarding of new team members.
  • Liaise with superior on training needs.
  • Act as mentor.
  • Serve as a System Owner for laboratory equipment: responsible for operator training, equipment maintenance, calibration and qualification.
  • Ensure that GRP rules are followed and documented.
  • Ensure general laboratory cleanliness.
  • Other duties as assigned by superior.
