RocheSouth San Francisco, CA
$103,400 - $192,000Onsite

About The Position

The Therapeutic Modalities and Technologies group in the Protein Sciences organization at Genentech is responsible for the design and generation of new therapeutic modalities that combine the engineering and analytical principles of multiple scientific disciplines. We are excited to be at the forefront of therapeutic design by generating molecules with unique mechanisms of action. We are looking for an individual to join our Nucleic Acid Technologies team, which leverages innovative molecular and cellular technologies to advance Genentech’s therapeutic programs across mRNA, nucleic acid based medicines (ASO/siRNA), and novel modalities. Our team supports pipeline progress through implementation of established workflows, assay and process improvements, as well as the development of new experimental capabilities that increase efficiency and dataset dimensionality. Additionally, we serve as an incubator for novel modalities and emerging technologies, conducting early assessments of high-priority biological questions and modality-enhancing tools that can enable future therapeutic opportunities.

Requirements

  • Hold a Master’s or PhD degree in Biological Sciences (Genetics, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genome Engineering, or a related field) with 1+ years of relevant industry or academic experience.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques (sequence design, cloning, PCR, qRT-PCR) and mammalian cell culture.
  • Possess practical experience with NGS library preparation and data analysis platforms.
  • Show excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn new scientific capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments leveraging innovative molecular and cellular technologies to advance therapeutic programs across mRNA, nucleic acid-based medicines (ASO/siRNA), and novel modalities.
  • Optimize experimental workflows and develop new capabilities to increase testing efficiency and dataset dimensionality.
  • Serve as an incubator for emerging technologies, conducting early assessments of high-priority biological questions that enable future therapeutic opportunities.
  • Perform techniques such as qRT-PCR, NGS library preparation, mammalian cell culture, transfection/electroporation, and cell-based screening.
  • Analyze complex datasets using platforms and programming tools (e.g., Benchling, Snapgene, R, Python) and present findings to cross-functional partners.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and project partners in a fast-paced, high-impact research environment.

Benefits

  • A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
  • The benefits detailed at the link provided below.
