This is a full-time, onsite, Scientist 2 position located in Hazelwood, MO, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. The salary range for this position reflects a variety of factors. Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills, and alignment with internal equity. SUMMARY: Responsible for providing or overseeing the analysis, administration, and oversight of varied chemistry/biochemistry policies, programs, and practices. Provides feedback and guidance regarding the analysis of materials, products, and/or devices using intermediate to complex professional and technical knowledge of chemistry/biochemistry or related instrumentation, testing, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related field; AND two (2) years of related experience, including work with complex programs or operations; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced principles, practices, and techniques of chemistry/biochemistry.
  • Understanding of the administration and oversight of chemistry/biochemistry programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Methods for resolving chemistry/biochemistry-related problems and challenges.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with laboratory testing tools, equipment, and calibration processes.
  • Computer applications and systems relevant to the work.
  • Principles and practices of effective teamwork.
  • Communication methods to ensure safe and effective operations with staff and customers.
  • Proper use of business English, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Performing intermediate to complex chemistry/biochemistry duties across assigned areas.
  • Overseeing and administering chemistry/biochemistry functions.
  • Training others on policies and procedures.
  • Contributing to project development and management as a team member.
  • Operating effectively in both team-based and independent work environments.
  • Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Preparing reports, correspondence, and technical documentation.
  • Exercising initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provides intermediate to complex analysis in support of testing materials, products, and/or devices using a variety of analytical instrumentation; follows standard operating procedures and methods.
  • Performs review, analysis, interpretation, and documentation of testing results.
  • Oversees or reviews, completes, and processes various chemistry/biochemistry forms, documents, databases, and related materials.
  • Provides analysis, interpretation, and guidance to staff and leadership regarding chemistry/biochemistry policies, programs, and practices; supports operational changes and implementation efforts.
  • Conducts research and provides recommendations to resolve management, employee, and customer inquiries; coordinates responses and resources as needed.
  • Analyzes operations, results, and related chemistry/biochemistry data to identify trends, interpret findings, and present recommendations to management.
  • Ensures accuracy of tests, equipment, procedures, and operational data through audits, reviews, and collaboration with teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assists with development and execution of chemistry/biochemistry or cross-functional projects, including budgets, timelines, materials, and staffing needs; provides updates to management.
  • Cleans, maintains, prepares, and calibrates equipment, samples, and work areas.
  • Interprets and applies department policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations, seeking guidance as needed.
  • Contributes to department effectiveness by offering suggestions and participating as an active team member.
  • Promotes and supports the mission of Pace Analytical through professional, cooperative interactions with customers and staff.
