The job is located at our Holly Springs Site. This is a full-time role onsite. You will report to the Director, Technical Development. Job Purpose This role will provide support for Upstream development activities projects of varying size to support cell culture and influenza candidate process improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Virology, Molecular Biology or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in R&D/Development setting.
  • Experience with handling and cultivation of mammalian cell culture
  • Experience with small scale bioreactors and automated liquid handling systems.
  • Knowledge of operation of cell culture laboratory equipment and instruments (bioreactors, bioanalyzers, cell counters, centrifuges, etc.)
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of statistical techniques such as Design of Experiments (DOE) is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with diverse team members from various functions to contribute to the overarching TD team goals of influenza vaccine development.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining mammalian cell culture seed train (shake flasks, bioreactors, etc.) including aseptic handling of cell cultures in support of ongoing vaccine virus improvement projects.
  • Responsible for aseptically executing experiments related to virology and mammalian cell culture including virus culture sampling, sample processing, testing and analysis with standard virology/cell culture techniques and assays.
  • Collaboratively design small scale experiments to characterize and define optimized growth and infection conditions for influenza vaccine process.
  • Routinely design and execute small scale bioreactor (ambr15 and ambr250) experiments using DOE principals and statistical analysis for influenza vaccine process.
  • May support/participate in pilot scale studies.
  • Troubleshooting of instrument malfunction and identifying possible route causes for study excursions/failures.
  • Responsible for summarizing and analyzing data and presenting study results.
  • Maintain proper laboratory documentation including work instructions, lab notebooks, logbooks, appropriate electronic documentation, and lab reports.
  • Communicate (present, write-up in technical documents, etc.) results to colleagues, project teams, and management.
  • When appropriate, follow all applicable SOPs and GMP requirements in support of lab activities.
