Ataraxis AINew York, NY
$115,000 - $255,000

About The Position

Ataraxis is a clinical AI research lab focused on the intersection of multi-modal AI and precision medicine, aiming to make diseases predictable. The lab develops AI methods for predicting patient outcomes and treatment response, and builds clinical tools to aid physicians in treatment selection. Their AI research discovers and develops methods to recognize patterns and predict outcomes across complex, multi-modal clinical data, including causality, foundation models for digital pathology, and survival analysis. Their initial clinical products, like Ataraxis™ Breast for breast cancer, are already assisting patients at leading academic institutions and community clinics. Ataraxis offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of the company and healthcare, joining an exceptional team at the forefront of clinical AI research and deployment, with advisors including AI pioneer Yann LeCun and distinguished oncologists. The company has raised over $24 million, including a $20 million Series A from prominent venture capital funds. Ataraxis operates with a flat organizational structure, empowering team members and valuing initiative, exceptional results, strong work ethic, and ruthless prioritization.

Requirements

  • Relentless drive; the ability to proactively acquire necessary resources and manage projects independently.
  • Scientific fluency; ability to discuss clinical studies, translational science, and learn drug/trial details to engage with medical oncologists as a peer.
  • PhD or MS with a research/publication track record.
  • Scientific charm; ability to compellingly communicate the importance of the work to physicians and researchers.
  • Ability to form independent views on complex, information-incomplete questions, reason from first principles, trust intuition, and update priors with new learning.
  • Comfort with the modern AI stack and ability to use AI tools to increase speed while avoiding "AI slop".

Responsibilities

  • Lead clinical research expansion of Ataraxis to next cancer types/disease areas beyond breast cancer.
  • Work directly with the CEO and own the expansion of Ataraxis into a new cancer type from early scientific groundwork through the foundation for launch.
  • Build and manage a network of relationships with clinical leaders, advisors, and research collaborators.
  • Work with our data and partnerships teams to secure and shape the resources our models need.
  • Partner with engineering and research to bring the first models in a new indication to life.
