About The Position

The Scientific Program Analyst will develop and implement updates to extramural research policies, resources and training materials on NINDS Intranet, ensuring content supports the unique scientific needs of NINDS-specific and NINDS-led trans-NIH Initiatives. Draft, Edit and Publish Standard Operating Procedures for multiple Extramural Research Operations and Processes as they apply to research-specific issues and review them in consultation with relevant NINDS staff to ensure that the materials meet both scientific and policy needs for National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) within the National Institutes of Health. Assist DEA with documenting, implementing and coordinating follow-up on actionable items resulting from monthly Operations meetings to improve impact and efficiency of the extramural research workflow.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, or similar
  • Skilled in SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Knowledge of NIH grants and funding mechanisms
  • Skilled in website content development, ability to establish collaborations, plain language, and writing

Nice To Haves

  • Drupal or other web content management systems experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with non-technical and technical staff
  • Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects

Responsibilities

  • Work with staff on existing projects and/or the development, initiation and execution of new project initiatives
  • Read, interpret, analyze and condense material from a variety of sources for presentation.
  • Prepare Standard Operating Procedures and Guidance documentation / Training Materials relevant to Research Operations
  • Coordinate with extramural operation colleagues to plan and attend meetings and training sessions, maintaining centralized resources that track key issues, action items and extramural updates
  • Prepare and give formal presentations for division leadership and other interest groups.
  • Give regular progress reports to sponsor and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all aspects of SOP development are tracked and reported, key deliverable dates are known and adhered to, and all involved parties are kept appraised of progress of integrated tasks and next steps.
  • Develop a plan to improve the outreach, education, and interaction strategies of the Branch.
  • Review extramural activities and workflows related to internal systems and/or enterprise systems, to identify issues and develop recommendations for improvement
  • Organize, develop and maintain a repository of resources, including PowerPoint presentations, meeting minutes, reports, spreadsheets and web pages related to Extramural operations.
  • Work with the Office of Communications and Public Liaison to achieve the communications goals.
  • Develops and maintains clinical database.
  • Develop and maintain website content, Teams Channels and information databases (e.g. SharePoint sites) related to extramural operations.
