About The Position

Ivy Tech Community College - Terre Haute Campus is seeking a part-time Science Tutor with a strong background in Anatomy and Physiology (APHY) to join the Learning Resource Center (LRC). The LRC is committed to empowering students by providing academic support that fosters critical thinking and academic independence. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students in APHY coursework, including lab-related content such as basic microscope usage and identification of slides.

Requirements

• Minimum of a B or higher in college-level Anatomy and Physiology.
• Comfortable explaining scientific concepts clearly and patiently.
• Emotionally mature, dependable, and professional.
• Open to feedback and capable of working collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with microscopes and familiarity with histology content is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions in Anatomy and Physiology.
• Support students in understanding microscope functions and identifying specimens under magnification.
• Set a precedent of academic integrity and model responsible academic behavior.
• Contribute to student learning, growth, and confidence in science coursework.
• Develop strategies that promote scientific thinking and effective study habits.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to align tutoring strategies with course expectations.
• Create supplemental learning materials as needed.
• Stay updated on curriculum developments in Anatomy and Physiology.
• Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions in TracCloud.
• Distribute and collect student feedback as directed.
• Refer students to additional campus support resources when appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
