About The Position

Polar Field Services, Inc. is looking to hire a seasonal Science Technician to provide 4.5 months of hands-on support for research projects at Summit Station, Greenland. This scientific research support position earns a competitive wage of $1,472.54 - $1,738.50/week. In addition, our seasonal Science Technician can enroll in our Pro Deal Discount program. Polar Field Services, Inc. has been taking clients wherever they need to go, no matter how remote the location or challenging the conditions may be. We plan their expeditions, keep them safe in places that are anything but, and supply food, shelter, power, water, and waste removal. We then return the site to such a pristine condition no one would ever know we were there. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field plus 2 years of experience in science or engineering OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 Excel, Word, and Outlook
Outdoor work experience
Valid driver's license
United States passport
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, including working in an isolated location and in Arctic weather conditions
Extremely reliable
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to knowledgeably discuss technical and scientific information
Attentive to detail
Ability to put safety first every day
Mindful of the environment

Responsibilities

Provide hands-on scientific research support for research projects at Summit Station, Greenland.
Act as the on-site representative for science activities and be a go-to for researchers.
Maintain a diverse suite of instrumentation such as aerosol analyzers, meteorological sensors, radars, lidars, and more.
Release radiosonde balloons.
Observe the weather.
Address any instrument outages.
Communicate frequently with researchers.
Provide tours to visitors, acting as the face of the organization and clearly explaining technical information.
Accomplish a variety of other tasks to ensure that the station is well-maintained.
Coordinate any shipments that take place.
Climb instrument towers.
Dig sample trenches.
Travel to study sites, occasionally by snowmobile.
Document all activities.
Keep daily logs.
Send weekly and end-of-season reports to the science project manager.
Train replacement for the seasonal job.
