About The Position

Northwest High School is seeking a Science Teacher to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Iowa teaching license for grades 5-12 in All Sciences, Biology, or Chemistry. This role involves creating and maintaining a positive learning environment, utilizing various teaching methods, and committing to the needs of diverse learners. The teacher will also be expected to participate in professional development and apply principles of Professional Learning Communities (PLC) and the Waukee Framework for Meeting the Needs of All Students.

Requirements

• Valid State of Iowa teaching license. 5-12 All Sciences OR 5-12 Biology OR 5-12 Chemistry
• Record of recent professional learning and knowledge of current research
• Understanding of formative assessment and evidence of using data to adapt to individual needs of students of all ability levels

Nice To Haves

• Previous classroom teaching experience at the 10-12th grade level
• Previous experience teaching Biology and Chemistry

• Commit to meeting the needs of diverse learners, including all special populations.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth and development as described in the Iowa Professional Development Standards and support of the Iowa Teaching Standards as the foundation from which to build that ongoing growth plan.
• Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to implement the MTSS process.
• Utilize developmentally appropriate assessments for learning.
• Articulate oral and written communications.
• Maintain accurate standards based grades and provide measurable and adequate feedback on student work.
• Participate in professional development.
