About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is launching Elevate 3-1-5, an initiative designed to strengthen teaching and learning through personalized instruction, aligned professional development, and purposeful use of data to ensure every student experiences academic growth while attending to the whole child. We are seeking dedicated and mission-driven ELA, Math, Science, Special Education, and English as a New Language teachers who are committed to helping all students thrive through high-quality, student-centered instruction. This is an opportunity to be part of a team working to transform learning experiences in schools designated for elevated support. Elevate 3-1-5 placements will be made to best support student needs based on strengths of selected candidates and may be at one of the following sites: Delaware Primary, Bellevue Elementary, Van Duyn Elementary, Seymour Dual Language Academy, STEAM @ Dr. King Elementary, McKinley-Brighton Elementary, STEM @ Blodgett, Grant Middle School, Brighton Academy, Lincoln Middle School, Clary Middle School, Frazer PreK-8, or Roberts PreK-8, WHO YOU ARE: You are an educator who believes deeply in: Each student’s ability to grow Each student’s potential—not limits—and you design learning experiences that help students reach new heights Continuous learning and improvement The importance of feedback, collaboration, and innovative practices. Requirements

  • Valid NYS teaching certification in your content area or actively pursuing certification
  • Demonstrated success using data to adjust instruction
  • Strong collaboration skills and commitment to professional learning

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for teachers with 2+ years of teaching experience, though early-career educators who demonstrate strong commitment to growth are encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Rigorous, Personalized Instruction
  • Provide standards-aligned instruction rooted in personalized learning practices
  • Tailor lessons, small-group instruction, and interventions based on student data
  • Maintain high expectations while adapting strategies to support diverse learners
  • Engage in Ongoing Professional Growth
  • Teachers will participate in a combined 2 hours per week of professional development and collaborative planning focused on:
  • Personalized learning practices
  • Data analysis and targeted instructional planning
  • Continuous improvement cycles
  • Instructional strategies aligned to Elevate 315 priorities
  • Analyze and Use Data to Drive Instruction
  • Review data from formative assessments, student work, and progress monitoring tools
  • Identify trends, strengths, and needs to inform instructional decisions
  • Engage in regular reflection to refine and strengthen practice
  • Collaborate with Colleagues and Leadership
  • Work closely with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and administrators
  • Participate in collaborative planning and coaching cycles
  • Share insights, ideas, and best practices to strengthen collective impact
  • Foster a Positive, Inclusive Classroom Culture
  • Build relationships rooted in respect, trust, and high expectations
  • Promote student agency and ownership of learning
  • Create a classroom environment where all students feel safe, capable, and supported
