About The Position

The Science teacher actively instructs students, creates lesson plans, assigns and grades homework, manages students in the classroom, communicates with families, and helps students grow in their science education. This role involves teaching at grade levels from Freshman through Senior, with a course load including Honors Biology, AP Chemistry, and all levels of Physics. The teacher will demonstrate knowledge of the prescribed curriculum, current educational research, and technological tools to achieve meaningful and measurable outcomes. They will establish and maintain a safe, orderly, effective, and productive learning environment, upholding the school's discipline procedures. The position requires organizing daily class time, developing weekly lessons with appropriate materials, and providing detailed plans for substitute teachers. Maintaining fair, accurate, and timely grading policies and attendance is crucial. Regular communication via email and updating web pages are expected. Prompt grading of papers, assignments, and assessments is required. The teacher will communicate regularly with students and parents about schedules, assignments, events, and individual student needs, and meet with parents during conferences. Evaluating student progress, keeping appropriate records, preparing and administering tests, and preparing progress reports and report cards are key responsibilities. Maintaining confidentiality regarding school matters, including social media, and adhering to all school and diocesan policies are mandatory. Professional growth, adherence to professional standards, and demonstrating professional ethics, sound judgment, and leadership are expected. Collaboration with other staff members in planning instructional goals and attending required in-service training, meetings, and workshops are also part of the role. The teacher will perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Science or related field.
Previous experience working with children.
Understanding of child development and the skills necessary to relate to the students being taught.
Ability to handle classroom situations with fairness and patience.
Good writing skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with students and teachers.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
High degree of credibility, integrity, and self-confidence is essential.
Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check (No less than 1 year old).
Attendance at the online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.
