About The Position

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our team at CMS/CHS. The position will teach two general science classes at CMS and three classes of Biology at the high school. As the buildings are located right next to each other, transition between buildings is easy! The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various scientific disciplines and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. This full-time position involves teaching students in grades 6-12, developing engaging lesson plans, and inspiring students to explore the wonders of science. The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative educational atmosphere that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and a love for learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification in Science for grades 6-12.
  • Proven experience teaching science in a middle or high school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of scientific concepts, principles, and practices across various disciplines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in using technology and digital resources for instructional purposes.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Passion for science education and a desire to inspire students to pursue their interests in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Deliver engaging and interactive science lessons in a classroom setting, utilizing various instructional strategies and technologies.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and support to foster academic growth.
  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to enhance the overall educational experience and integrate interdisciplinary approaches.
  • Stay current with developments in science education and incorporate innovative teaching methodologies into the curriculum.
  • Organize and supervise laboratory experiments, field trips, and other hands-on learning experiences.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and any concerns.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school community through committees and extracurricular activities.
  • Uphold school policies and procedures while promoting a culture of respect and responsibility among students.
