About The Position
As a key member of the faculty at Everglades Preparatory Academy, the Science Teacher will report directly to the Administration and play a crucial role in creating an exceptional educational experience. The teacher will be responsible for cultivating an effective classroom that promotes high student achievement and fosters a climate of openness, fairness, mutual respect, support, and inquiry. They will design and deliver grade-level appropriate learning experiences that captivate students through active learning, hands-on application, and rich discussions. Utilizing both formal and informal assessment strategies, the teacher will maximize student achievement, modify instructional approaches as needed, and collect data for continuous improvement. The teacher will collaborate closely with a supportive team to develop shared lesson plans, establish measurable goals for student achievement, and contribute to a positive school culture. They will also actively participate in professional learning communities and attend development opportunities to continually enhance their skills. Instilling a strong independent and collaborative work ethic in students will be key, preparing them for future success. The teacher will maintain accurate digital gradebooks and communicate regularly with parents, fostering strong home-school connections regarding student progress. Ensuring a safe and organized environment is also a critical part of this role. The teacher will take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities, and assist administration in implementing school policies. This includes maintaining order in the classroom and overseeing paraprofessionals and volunteers when applicable. The teacher will continuously strive to improve their professional competence by attending meetings and serving on staff committees as required. Maintaining accurate records and adhering to all required educational plans and school policies will also be essential.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Arts/Science in Education or a related field of instruction is required.
- Florida certification in the subject area is required.
Responsibilities
- Uses classroom procedures that support effective teaching and learning to promote high student achievement.
- Develops a climate and culture of openness, fairness, mutual respect, support, and inquiry.
- Engages every student in grade level appropriate learning experiences that promote performance.
- Designs lessons to promote student engagement through active learning, hands-on application, and teacher-student and student-student conversations regarding the learning.
- Uses formal and informal assessment strategies to maximize student achievement and modify instructional strategies as needed.
- Collects and utilizes data for continual improvement.
- Submits collaborative lesson plans timely.
- Regularly updates digital gradebook and communicates with parents regarding student progress.
- Promotes independent and collaborative work ethic.
- Participates in professional learning communities and attends professional development opportunities to fully meet each child’s needs.
- Uses various assessment tools / strategies such as observations, continuums of development, portfolios, and daily assessments to help make instructional decisions for individual students.
- Maintains accurate records as required by law and administrative regulation.
- Takes all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Assists administration in implementing school policies.

- Oversees paraprofessionals and volunteers when applicable.
