About The Position

Shiprock Associated Schools, Inc. (SASI) is a Tribally Controlled school under the Bureau of Indian Education, located on the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, NM. SASSI schools currently utilize the Beyond Textbooks curriculum framework. SASI is currently not accepting any foreign sponsorships. Preferential consideration for employment will be given to people of documented Navajo tribal membership who meet the qualifications above, in accordance with the requirements of the Navajo Preference in Employment Act.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Secondary (7-12th grade) Education, or related field, from an accredited college or university.
• Valid New Mexico Teacher Licensure, with endorsement(s) as applicable.
• Must have or obtain - First Aid/CPR/AED certification for infant/child/adult.
• Must have or obtain Navajo Nation Food Handler's permit.
• Must be able to meet minimum physical requirements: sitting, standing, lifting, carrying (up to 50 lbs), reaching, squatting, kneeling, or moving light furniture may be required.
• Must have valid state-issued driver's license.
• MUST be able to pass background checks for New Mexico state, Navajo Nation, and FBI.

Nice To Haves

• Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) endorsement preferred.
• Bilingual in Dine & English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach secondary (7-12th grade) science.
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of New Mexico PED Academic Standards.
• Obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification for infant/child/adult.
• Obtain Navajo Nation Food Handler's permit.
• Meet minimum physical requirements: sitting, standing, lifting, carrying (up to 50 lbs), reaching, squatting, kneeling, or moving light furniture may be required.
