About The Position

At KIPP Public Schools Northern California, Science Teachers are responsible for bringing academic and cultural visions to life by designing engaging lessons, using data to guide instruction, and creating a classroom where every student learns and thrives. They will also integrate Social Emotional Learning and Restorative Practices to build a joyful, inclusive, and safe community. Teachers will collaborate closely with their school’s Leadership Team, including their Instructional Coach, to continuously strengthen their teaching practice through weekly meetings, coaching, and feedback. KIPP is committed to building an anti-racist community, and teachers engage in ongoing reflection on identity, equity, and systemic impact, collectively examining practices, data, and culture to ensure schools serve all students with excellence and dignity.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
Hold a valid teaching credential in the subject of your desired role, or be eligible for a General Education Limited Assignment Permit, Provisional Internship Permit, or Short Term Staff Permit (CPR certification by American Heart Association or American Red Cross is a prerequisite for this permit)

Strong content knowledge and instructional skills
Ability to build meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and openness to learning new educational technologies (e.g., Zoom, Nearpod)

Responsibilities

Develop and implement daily and long-term lesson plans aligned with KIPP’s academic vision
Analyze student data regularly to inform instruction and support student growth
Foster a positive, inclusive, and rigorous classroom environment grounded in Restorative Practices and SEL
Use culturally responsive classroom management strategies to ensure safety, belonging, and high expectations for all students
Communicate proactively with families, colleagues, and leaders to build strong partnerships
Engage fully in weekly professional development and Communities of Practice
Maintain accurate and timely records, including attendance, grades, and behavior data
