About The Position

Darby Vassall Lane Upper School is seeking a passionate and creative educator to join their team as a 7th Grade Science Teacher. This role involves providing superior science instruction to a diverse group of learners, utilizing the district curriculum and common assessments. The teacher will incorporate best practices in science instruction, including formative assessment, differentiation, and embedded literacy strategies within an inquiry-focused classroom. The position is .50 FTE (Full-Time Equivalent).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Massachusetts teacher certification/licensure in Science grades 5-8 required.
• Recent successful experience teaching middle school science in a student-centered classroom with inquiry-based methodologies in an urban, multicultural setting.
• A love for children and desire to work with upper school students.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead science instruction for groupings of 7th grade students.
• Support students in using technological tools, including interactive whiteboards, Chromebooks, Google Docs, and Probeware.
• Incorporate a variety of assessment strategies to inform and modify instruction, and to target intervention and enrichment needs.
• Collaboratively plan with the grade level team and other science teachers.
• Actively engage in grade level professional learning communities and attend district-wide professional development opportunities and meetings.
