About The Position

Salter Transportation, Inc. is seeking a School Van Monitor to join their team. This position involves assisting students with entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring their safety with lap and shoulder belts, and securing them in car seats and booster seats. The role requires monitoring student behavior, providing guidance, and reporting any unsafe or inappropriate conduct to management. Effective communication with students, parents, teachers, and staff is essential, as is the ability to use a two-way radio system. The position also requires the physical capability to install car seats and booster seats and a willingness to work with school-aged children with special needs. Requirements

Age 18+
Ability to pass a background check, CORI/SORI, and drug screen.
Effectively communicate in English (spoken and written).
Physical capability to safely install car seats and booster seats.
Ability to follow written and verbal directions and instructions from supervisors.
Willingness to work effectively with school-aged children with special needs.

Responsibilities

Safely assist students as needed, including helping them enter and exit the vehicle.
Use the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belts and safely secure students in car seats and booster seats.
Monitor student behavior to provide appropriate guidance, feedback, and direction.
Report unsafe and inappropriate student behavior to management and implement corrective steps.
Communicate effectively and clearly in English with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff.
Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills while using Van Pool’s two-way radio system.
Safely install car seats and booster seats.
Follow written and verbal directions and instructions from supervisors.
Work effectively with school-aged children with special needs.
