School Social Worker-Temporary
About The Position
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Pascal Mubenga, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of School Social Worker. This is a temporary position with various locations. Applications will be kept on file for one year. Candidates must be New York State certified in Social Work and are required to attach a PDF or screenshot of their certifications. Preference is given to candidates holding a Licensed Clinical Social Work Certification (LCSW). A minimum of two years of social work experience is required, with at least one year of experience working with alternative education or community/school collaboration being preferable. Candidates should have experience in providing clinical support and demonstrating ability in a wide range of therapeutic modalities.
Requirements

Responsibilities
- Establishing an environment to enhance individual growth and promote a positive self-image
- Processing and facilitating on-going services for students with disabilities and their families
- Social skill development, and educational opportunities
- Acting as a key member of an interdisciplinary team consisting of instructional personnel, psychologist, counselors, and other team members as required
- Scheduling and conducting home visitation conferences
- Obtaining consents for students referred to the CSE
- Gathering comprehensive social histories for students
- Administering adaptive behavior and parental checklist measures
- Securing outside data needed to prepare for CSE meetings
- Performing classroom observations when needed
- Working individually or in groups with students in need of support services and counseling
- Offering strategies and support to parents
- Serving as a consultant to teachers
- Implementing PBS
- Performing any assigned duties as deemed necessary and appropriate
