School Social Worker
About The Position
This is a full-time, exempt position for a School Social Worker, working 10 months per year. The salary will be based on the NC Salary Schedule, license, and experience. The role involves working with students, families, and educators to address educational needs impacting student learning, utilizing various assessment tools and techniques. The social worker will also assist families in accessing community resources and consult on a range of issues including attendance, diversity, mental health, behavior management, crisis intervention, homelessness, child abuse, and neglect. Adherence to ethical, professional, and legal standards, including maintaining confidentiality, is required. Other duties may be assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Requirements
- School Social Worker NC Educator License required or be qualified to hold a valid/current license

- Experience working with at-risk children preferred
Responsibilities
- Work with students, families, and educators to identify educational needs that affect student learning
- Use a variety of appropriate formal and informal tools and techniques including observations and interviews to evaluate the progress and performance of students
- Assist students and family in gaining access to community resources
- Consult on issues such as attendance, diversity, mental health, behavior management, delinquency, crisis intervention, homelessness, child abuse, and neglect
- Adhere to ethical, professional, and legal standards
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information
- Other duties assigned by Superintendent or designee
