About The Position

Jonquil Preparatory Academy is seeking a part-time School Social Worker to provide comprehensive support to both special education and general education students. This role involves direct counseling, intervention planning, assessment, and collaboration with staff, parents, and community resources to foster student success. The position requires maintaining clinical records and adhering to program standards.

Requirements

Hold valid licensure for the state they are working in.
MSW degree.
Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) issued by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
School Social Work Full Approval and/or Provisional/Professional School Social Worker Certificate issued in the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS).

Responsibilities

Provide group and individual counseling sessions and classroom support to special education students as mandated per student IEPs.
Progress monitor IEP goals associated with mandated services and participate in student IEP meetings.
Provide group and individual counseling sessions to general education students and monitor their responses to interventions.
Develop and monitor student responses to behavior intervention plans, providing support and consultation to teachers.
Complete psychosocial assessments to aid in determining special education services.
Conduct functional behavior assessments and communicate results to team members in parent-friendly language.
Complete risk assessments on students referred for school social work services.
Establish relationships with students and parents and participate in school planning.
Assist in identifying needed community resources for students and make appropriate referrals.
Provide staff consultation on behavioral-emotional-environmental issues affecting student participation in learning.
Collaborate with school staff and other personnel in implementing strategies to promote student learning.
Provide crisis intervention services.
Maintain state-required clinical records and submit appropriate documents for statistical reports.
