This position is responsible for applying specialized knowledge of social worker theories and interventions in order to provide student assessment, recommend IEP services and determine eligibility for special education services. Provide social worker services and assistance to improve the social and psychological function of children and to strengthen home/school/community partnerships and alleviate barriers to learning. Work with community groups to develop supportive resources. Work with the IEP team: Speech and Language Pathologist, School Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Teachers, Parents, and Administrators to try to alleviate specific problems. Consult with parents on effective intervention strategies. Consult with classroom teachers to help them better understand and work with particular students or manage particular classes.
