About The Position

This is a District-based position that will be collaboratively supervised by the School Administrator(s) and Director of Education Support Services. The School Social Work practice incorporates a variety of methods, including individual, group work, community engagement, and consultation. The School Social Worker will support schools and staff in various issues in the context of school social work practice. This may include but is not limited to personal, social, and emotional, family functioning, schooling, and academic success. Travel is required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from university with a bachelor’s in social work or a related discipline (for Social Worker I).
  • Graduation from university with a master’s in social work; graduation from university with a Bachelor of Social Work and related experience; or graduation from university at the bachelor level in a related discipline plus, considerable related experience (for Social Worker II).
  • Registration with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers.

Responsibilities

  • Provision of services/interventions to individuals, families, and groups to improve social functioning.
  • Assessment and preparation of case analysis.
  • Identification of social needs and recommending appropriate action.
  • Preparing case analysis and reports.
  • Acting as a resource to educators.
  • Establishing/maintaining effective working relationships with students, parents, teaching staff, groups, other government departments, community agencies and the public.
  • Counseling individuals and groups.
  • Mediation.
  • Rehabilitation.
