Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Master of Social Work (MSW) degree program.
  • Compassion and empathy for individuals in difficult situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple clients and paperwork.
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to the NASW Code of Ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial and comprehensive psychosocial assessments to determine client needs and goals.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling or therapy sessions, often co-facilitating with a licensed professional.
  • Assist clients in adjusting to life challenges such as illness, unemployment, or family issues.
  • Observe and assist in crisis intervention procedures.
  • Develop and implement service or treatment plans.
  • Research, refer, and advocate for community resources, such as housing, food assistance, healthcare, and childcare.
  • Monitor client progress and ensure compliance with treatment plans and agency guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely client records, case files, and progress notes to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Manage and organize an assigned caseload of clients.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as organizing documents and updating records.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, case conferences, and supervision sessions (both individual and group).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, teachers, and other support staff.
  • Attend and occasionally lead training sessions or workshops on relevant topics like assessment techniques, ethical practices, and cultural competency.
