About The Position

This position is for a School Safety Monitor at Falmouth High School, working 37.5 hours a week for 10 months during the 2026-2027 school year. The primary goal is to monitor and assist with school building needs during the day under the direction of administration and the School Safety & Security Coordinator. This includes assisting in monitoring the school building and grounds to ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines, supervising students, coordinating activities, and ensuring student safety and well-being while on school property.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Earned High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with students.
  • Ability to take direction from and work under the supervision of one or more faculty members, provide feedback and execute plans accordingly.
  • Must demonstrate command of the English language and written communication skills.
  • Displays strong, positive communication and interaction skills both oral and written when dealing with the public, students and staff.
  • Ability to foster and maintain a positive school climate.
  • Communicates effectively with students and school staff in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate with young people, including the ability to be able to set limits without being antagonistic or abrasive.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or some college preferred.
  • Safety Care, CPR, and first aid training preferred and/or willing to be trained and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating an environment that supports the safety & security measures put in place.
  • Assist students in following school protocols by monitoring hallways and other areas as directed by the administration.
  • Assist when needed to cover lunches, breaks, etc.
  • Attend meetings & training as required.
  • Supervise specific areas of school buildings and/or property as required for security purposes.
  • Supervise activities of students in assigned areas.
  • Files security reports as requested.
  • Monitors the electronic security camera activity and communicates any questionable activity via the radio system when requested.
  • Professional operation of two-way radio devices with other school resource officers and administrators.
  • Exercises considerable discretion in the protection and release of confidential information and in the interpretation and administration of policies and procedures.
  • Maintain hours set by the school administration.
  • Availability to work additional hours if needed.
  • Additional responsibilities the school administration and/or School Safety Coordinator deems necessary.
