About The Position

The Part-Time School Psychologist will have the opportunity to provide a range of services for students who demonstrate difficulties with learning, academic achievement, social/emotional functioning, and behavior. Serve as a psycho-educational service provider involved in proactive, preventative activities, as well as responding to identified concerns. Provide services based on a combination of problem-solving, consultative, and direct service models; a comprehensive range of services including counseling, consultation, special education assessments, participation in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process, behavior intervention planning, and assistance with the MTSS model. This individual will be working closely with the Learning Service Team and report directly to the Director of Student Support Services. This is a part-time, 9 month position and the salary range is from $34,515.50 - $50,000.00 depending on experience and education level.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in psychology required.
  • Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Services School Psychologist License.
  • Knowledge and basic understanding of IDEA 2004, Exceptional Children's Education Act, and other relevant pieces of legislation.
  • Knowledge of current psychological techniques including the administration and interpretation of various assessment tools.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic psychological and educational foundations including social and cognitive development, theories of learning and motivation, and awareness of instructional practices.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in school-based prevention and early intervention strategies for students with learning disabilities, or mental health and/or social needs.
  • Demonstrated skills in facilitation, conflict resolution and student and/or adult learning.
  • Demonstrated skills in data gathering and analysis.
  • Evidence of organization, planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to promote and follow school policies.
  • Ability to stay current with school policy, standards and training in the areas of data quality, data privacy, and cyber-security with respect to student and staff data, and related information systems.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
  • Demonstrated experience performing as an effective leader and team player, and recognizing and resolving conflicts or potentially controversial situations through diplomacy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop individual, group or system level interventions which improve identified problems or concerns, including academic, social / emotional / behavioral / mental health needs as they relate to educational progress.
  • Uses research-based and technically sound practices to drive decision-making and interventions; and collaborates with school personnel and parents in order to develop and modify student intervention strategies.
  • Conducts, interprets and implements student assessment which includes record review, interview, observation, and standardized assessment.
  • Administers and interprets norm-referenced and curriculum-based edumetric and psychological assessment measures.
  • Participates in team-based follow-up activities to review student progress, analyze data, and modify individual interventions.
  • Serve as liaison among the school, families and community and collaborates with various teams to assure positive outcomes for all learners.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary staffings to determine the eligibility, appropriate planning, and re-evaluation for students who require special education services/programs.
  • Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary assessment team for initial and re-eligibility evaluations for students with or suspected of having a disability.
  • Participate as a member of the multi-sensory team involving identification of student needs and characteristics of services and program modifications.
  • Participate on a school-based problem solving team as needed.
  • Provide consultation and advocacy support services including problem solving and resources to parents of students with disabilities and/or at-risk students.
  • Provide training and educational programs for school staff and parents as directed by the Director of Student Support Services.
  • Advocate for students based on professional and ethical guidelines, as well as district and state standards.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records required by law and in accordance with school and corresponding district policies.
  • Perform other work related responsibilities as assigned.
