About The Position

The Hagedorn Little Village School, Jack Joel Center for Special Children is a school for children with developmental disabilities ranging in age from 2 to 12 years. The CPSE (Committee on Preschool Special Education) evaluations department conducts assessments for children between the ages of 2.5 and 5.5 referred by their local school district. This position will support the CPSE department.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Psychology
• Certification as a School Psychologist
• Fingerprinting and New York State criminal background check are mandatory

Responsibilities

• Complete Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• Conduct parent training sessions (optional)
• Conduct social history interviews and classroom observations
• Conduct cognitive and educational evaluations
• Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments in community preschools
• Provide families with information regarding the CPSE process and the evaluations conducted with their child
• Participate in school district meetings and present the evaluations to the Committee on Preschool Special Education
• An opportunity to co-lead a social skills group with a licensed psychologist
• Possible opportunities to co-lead a sibling group after school hours
