About The Position

The School Principal is responsible for providing supervision and professional leadership to special education/ behavioral health school staff and for oversight of all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the school, including the educational content of the program. The principal is also responsible for ensuring that the school programs meet all licensing, accreditation, and academic standards. As part of the management team, the principal will provide administrative oversight, curriculum and program development, including scheduling and implementation of MCAS and other standardized testing for students. Additional duties include parent conferences, team meetings, hiring and staff retention, and ongoing communications with referral sources and D.E.S.E. The Mill Pond Schools, with locations in Springfield and the Berkshires, serve students—kindergarten through age 22—who have social-emotional and/or behavioral challenges, a learning disability, or who may have a diagnosis of high-functioning Autism. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in educational field
  • Certified in Special Education
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in special education or therapeutic setting
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practices
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral interventions
  • Strong knowledge of special education law
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Administrator License preferred
  • Teaching license preferred
