Job Description Here's what you need to know: Under direct supervision of the Campus Facilities Specialist, the Porter/Cleaner performs routine cleaning and maintenance tasks. Porters are responsible for the cleanliness of the school building and care of outside grounds.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Highly effective communication skills via phone, email, and in person
  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Must be available 24/7 to handle school related emergencies
  • Ability to multitask, works collaboratively, and maintains focus in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to utilize various types of electronic and information systems used by the organization—cell phone, computer, email and job tracking system
  • HS Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ability to lift, bend, and pull more than 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Highly capable and comfortable using power tools and facility related equipment
  • Previous custodial experience in a school or professional setting
  • Experienced in construction practices including site safety, communication
  • Knowledge of asbestos containing materials handling and management
  • Knowledge of life safety systems, safety drills procedures and best practices
  • Experience developing and maintaining project plans
  • Proficiency in Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Daily cleaning of all school-used spaces and property in accordance to regional standards
  • Respond to student accidents, spills, and urgent needs
  • Daily inspection of buildings and grounds to note conditions and see that needed work is done in a timely fashion
  • Manage lunchroom set up and clean-up for lunch periods and events as required
  • Maintain and update work order ticketing system daily.
  • Execute special projects related to building maintenance and upkeep as assigned by school leadership or the building custodian/regional facilities manager
  • Set up, arrange, and remove furniture for special events
