About The Position

This is a full-time position at Lincoln County High School. The School Nutrition Worker will be responsible for various duties related to the preparation and serving of school meals, ensuring a safe, sanitary, and secure workplace. The role requires physical presence, adherence to procedures and regulations, and the ability to work well with others, especially children. Key responsibilities include following recipes, using kitchen equipment, preparing menu items, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.

Requirements

  • Physical presence is an essential function of this job.
  • Must be able to or willing to learn to read and follow recipes.
  • Must be able to or willing to learn to cook in an institutional kitchen setting.
  • Must become familiar with and confident in abilities to effectively use every piece of equipment in the kitchen in daily meal preparation activities.
  • Must be able or willing to learn to cook/prepare every item on the menus.
  • Must wear closed toe non-porous work shoes certified as slip resistant/non-skid (manufacturers’ documentation of slip resistant/non-skid must be provided to SNP Supervisor).
  • Observe established good hygiene practices (e.g. bathing and brushing teeth daily, shampooing hair regularly, wearing clean uniforms to work, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Follow proper procedures and regulations in relation to receiving, storing, handling, merchandising, preparing, and serving of school meals.
  • Follow all guidelines in the maintenance of safe, sanitary, and secure workplace.
  • Perform duties necessary to produce school meals.
  • Work and communicate well with others.
  • Follow directions well.
  • Respect and follow the chain of command.
  • Provide positive experiences in the cafeteria service line.
  • Report to work on time, observing dress codes.
  • Observe established good hygiene practices.
  • Follow assigned work schedules, and stay busy in the kitchen area during work hours.
  • Assist other workers if and when you finish your assigned duties.
  • Follow established food service operational procedures regarding kitchen equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving and dining areas to ensure a safe, clean, and sanitary working environment in compliance with standard practices and established nutritional health standards.
  • Read and follow recipes.
  • Cook in an institutional kitchen setting.
  • Effectively use every piece of equipment in the kitchen in daily meal preparation activities.
  • Cook/prepare every item on the menus.
  • Prepare, cook, and serve food and beverage items as directed to meet projected meal quantities and mandated nutritional and health standards.
  • Ensure appealing presentation of food.
  • Minimize waste of food items.
