School Nutrition Worker II
About The Position
To assist in producing the highest possible quality of food for consumption by students and adults. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, assisting the cook or baker with food preparation, potentially taking over cooking or baking duties in their absence. The role involves rotating through various cafeteria tasks such as working the serving line, cashier duties, cleaning tables, pots, pans, and equipment, managing trash, and maintaining production areas and snack bars. General duties assigned by the food service manager for preparation or clean-up are also part of the role. The position requires understanding and practicing USDA accountability and general safety standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to obtain food handler’s card.
- Ability to lift medium to heavy weights, bend, stoop, reach and climb.
- Shall have ability to work effectively and professionally with school personnel and students.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of 6 months to 1-year previous experience in a commercial or institutional food service operation.
Responsibilities
- Assists cook or baker or both with preparation of food.
- May be called upon to take over the cooking or baking duties in the absence of either.
- Rotates to all areas of cafeteria work; serving line, cashier, washing tables, pots and pans, taking out the trash and cleaning equipment, production areas and snack bar.
- Other general duties assigned by the food service manager necessary in preparation or clean up.
- Understands and practices USDA accountability and general safety standards.
- Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.
