About The Position

Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences is seeking a dependable, positive, and student-focused School Nutrition Aide to join our growing Nutrition Services Department. This position plays an important role in supporting the National School Lunch Program by assisting with meal service, maintaining a clean and safe cafeteria, and providing exceptional customer service to students. Successful candidates enjoy working with children, value teamwork, and take pride in creating a welcoming dining environment that supports student health and learning. This position offers an opportunity to become part of a growing Nutrition Services Department dedicated to providing high-quality, nutritious meals and exceptional service to every PSAS student.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to successfully pass all required background checks.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, staff, and families.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in school nutrition, food service, or customer service.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Experience working in a school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the daily operation of the National School Lunch Program.
  • Prepare the cafeteria and serving areas prior to the lunch service.
  • Receive, unload, transport, stock, and organize food, milk, and supplies for daily meal service.
  • Assist with setting up and replenishing serving lines throughout meal service.
  • Welcome and assist students during meal service with a friendly, respectful, and professional attitude.
  • Promote a safe, orderly, and positive cafeteria environment.
  • Clean and sanitize cafeteria tables, serving equipment, and food contact surfaces between meal periods.
  • Sweep, mop, and maintain cleanliness throughout the cafeteria and serving areas.
  • Restock milk coolers, condiments, utensils, napkins, and serving supplies as needed.
  • Follow all USDA, Colorado Department of Education, local health department, and PSAS food safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Properly handle, use, and store cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety regulations and district procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with Nutrition Services staff, school administration, teachers, and other support staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with students and staff.
  • Participate in required Colorado Department of Education School Nutrition Program trainings, whether completed online or in person.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nutrition Services or school administration.
  • Other duties assigned by the Director, Principal, or Business Administration.
