About The Position

As the only diocesan Catholic school serving students in grades six through twelve, Bishop Dunne is proud to reflect the rich diversity of Dallas. More than 75% of our students identify as students of color, and approximately half are Catholic. We are currently seeking a full-time School Nurse to support the health and wellness of our students and campus community. This role is responsible for maintaining the school health program in accordance with professional nursing standards, Diocese of Dallas policies and procedures, and the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The ideal candidate is a dedicated healthcare professional who understands the unique demands and rewards of providing care in a school setting and is committed to serving a diverse and vibrant student population.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional healthcare experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BS or BSN) from an accredited university
  • Current Texas RN license
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

  • Texas Scoliosis Certification
  • Acanthosis Nigricans Screening Certification (University of Texas Border Health Office)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain student health records (electronic and paper) in compliance with Diocese and state requirements
  • Ensure immunization records are current per Texas law
  • Document all student clinic visits and maintain accurate logs
  • Manage medication administration in accordance with state law and school policy
  • Order and maintain clinic supplies
  • Provide care to ill or injured students and determine appropriate next steps
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns
  • Refer families to community health resources (clinics, hospitals, Medicaid/CHIP, etc.)
  • Support student wellness through health education initiatives
  • Provide annual bloodborne pathogen training
  • Coordinate infection control procedures
  • Maintain certifications and compliance documentation
  • Certify/recertify staff in CPR/AED
  • Maintain required certifications (vision/hearing screening, scoliosis, etc.)
  • Collaborate with staff, families, and community partners
  • Serve as liaison to the Diocesan Nurse and attend required meetings/trainings
  • Assist with crisis management planning
  • Maintain first aid kits across campus and school buses
  • Conduct monthly AED checks
  • Model professionalism, ethics, and responsibility
  • Maintain strict confidentiality
  • Adhere to Diocese and school policies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
