School Nurse - Devereux Day Academy
About The Position
This is a Part Time School Nurse (RN) role at Devereux Day Academy in Landenberg, PA. The nurse will be responsible for medication administration and general first aid for students, demonstrating an understanding of the nursing process and student care in a school setting for students with special needs and medical challenges. The school program serves students in grades K-8 identified with intellectual disabilities, autism, emotional disturbance, specific learning disability, and speech or language impairment. Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS) serves children, adolescents, and young adults with various diagnoses and challenges, providing specialized care to equip them with academic, social, emotional, and life skills.
Requirements
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Pennsylvania preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Previous clinical experience in a behavioral healthcare setting and/or school setting strongly preferred
- Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing
- Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques
- Proficient use of computers and office equipment
- Valid driver's license must be maintained
Responsibilities
- Provide care as needed for the students with special needs and medical challenges
- Administer and document the usage of medication by students
- Organize and administer student medication
- Attain and maintain the optimum health status of all students
