About The Position

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking a compassionate and dependable School Nurse to support the health and well-being of students and staff in a Catholic school environment. This role involves providing day-to-day health services, administering medications, monitoring chronic health conditions, and responding to medical emergencies. A key component is maintaining accurate and confidential student health records, collaborating with school staff and families, and promoting health education within the school community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a genuine care for children, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional, with a commitment to Catholic education values.

Requirements

  • Active nursing license (RN or LPN preferred, based on state requirements)
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions
  • Excellent communication skills with students, parents/guardians, and staff
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in pediatric, school, or community health nursing is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day health services, including basic medical care for students and staff.
  • Administer first aid and assess illnesses or injuries.
  • Administer medications in accordance with physician and parent/guardian instructions.
  • Monitor students with chronic health conditions.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including immunization tracking, health plans, and incident reports, in compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and families to support student health needs, communicate concerns, and promote continuity of care.
  • Promote healthy habits, illness prevention, and overall wellness within the school community.
  • Develop health-related policies, support safety protocols, and provide guidance on issues such as hygiene, nutrition, and communicable diseases.
