About The Position

The School Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive health services to students within a school-based setting. This role supports student health, promotes wellness, manages chronic conditions, and collaborates with school staff, families, and healthcare providers to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.

Requirements

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
Current CPR/BLS certification
Previous nursing experience required
Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

Pediatric, school, or community health experience preferred
Experience working with diverse or underserved populations a plus
Experience in school-based or public health settings
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or other languages)
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to students, including first aid, illness assessment, and emergency response
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies
Develop and manage individualized healthcare plans (IHPs), emergency action plans (EAPs), and 504 plans as needed
Monitor and support students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies)
Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, etc.) and maintain accurate health records
Promote preventive care and health education for students, families, and staff
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and healthcare providers to support student health needs
Ensure compliance with state, federal, and school health regulations and policies
Maintain confidentiality and safeguard student health information
Participate in school meetings, care coordination, and community health initiatives
