About The Position

KIPP New Jersey is seeking a Part Time School Nurse at our Middle School in Paterson, NJ, to ensure the health and safety of our students and school community. This role involves providing direct health services, conducting health screenings, ensuring immunization compliance, and maintaining health records. The School Nurse will collaborate with teachers, the school social worker, child study team, and operations staff to support students.

Requirements

• Current New Jersey School Nurse Certification or meet the eligibility requirements for a standard or emergency school nurse certificate.
• A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• A current Providers Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AED) certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including immunization data, physical exams, screenings, referrals, and medical histories.
• Administer medications and treatments according to state laws, school policies, and standing orders.
• Respond to acute illnesses, injuries, and emotional health concerns with appropriate interventions.
• Develop and implement care plans based on assessments and ongoing evaluations.
• Monitor immunization compliance and communicable diseases; promote a safe and healthy school environment.
• Assist families in accessing community health resources and support services.
• Collaborate with staff (including food services, physical education, and counselors) to promote student wellness.
• Provide input and advice to school-based teams, including student support teams.
• Maintain and manage supplies and equipment for the nurse’s office and first aid stations.
