About The Position

The School Lunch Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the school cafeteria at Moving Everest Charter School. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting as needed.
  • Clear background check and eligibility to work in a school setting.
  • Ability to do simple arithmetic.
  • Ability to make correct change and use a basic computation device.
  • Dependable, punctual.
  • An independent self-starter able to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Follows food safety requirements/guidelines.
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in food service or cafeteria work.
  • Certification in food handling or safety (e.g., ServSafe).
  • Experience working with children or in an educational environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals to students and staff in accordance with established nutritional guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafeteria, including tables, serving areas, and kitchen equipment.
  • Support the kitchen team by washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen tools promptly and thoroughly.
  • Monitor student behavior in the lunchroom to ensure a safe and respectful environment.
  • Help manage inventory by restocking supplies and reporting shortages to the supervisor.
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations to maintain a hygienic food service area.
  • Assist students with special dietary needs or food allergies as directed by school policies.
