About The Position

Assists in providing dental care to pediatric patients by preparing treatment rooms, taking x-rays, assisting dentists, and educating patients and parents. This role supports dental clinics at KIPP Columbus and Groveport Madison, with a preference for internal candidates who work the rest of their FTE at the main campus clinic. The position is open to individuals willing to work during the school year only (August through May).

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited dental assistant training program or the equivalent in applicable experience, required.
  • Licensed to practice dental radiography in the State of Ohio within two weeks of hire, required.
  • Robust communication skills, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to treat and teach healthy and medically compromised patients.
  • Possesses good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to monitor nitrous oxide and patient after analgesia is administered.
  • Two years of experience as a chairside assistant, required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
  • Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments.
  • Provides materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.
  • Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.
