About The Position
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides basic health care services to students in a school setting. Performs a variety of duties related to student health and safety, including administering medications, providing first aid, monitoring student health conditions, and maintaining health records. May assist with health screenings and educational programs. Requires adherence to school policies and procedures, as well as state and federal health regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of basic health care procedures and terminology.
- Ability to administer medications accurately and safely.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of student health information.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Must be able to complete a three (3) year work history in the "Experience and Credentials" section of the application, including periods of unemployment, schooling, and volunteer work.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working in a school or healthcare setting.
- Experience with electronic health records.
- Additional health-related certifications.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications to students as prescribed by a physician, following established protocols.
- Provide basic first aid and emergency care to students in case of illness or injury.
- Monitor students with chronic health conditions and report any changes in condition to the supervising nurse.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including immunization status and health histories.
- Assist with health screenings, such as vision and hearing tests.
- Educate students and staff on basic health and hygiene practices.
- Maintain a clean and safe health office environment.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns.
- Adhere to all school and district policies and procedures, as well as state and federal health regulations.
